PACO GOMES & DANCERS (Afro-Brazilian Modern)

Paco Gomes is known for his ability to infuse the dynamic, multifaceted potential of modern dance with Afro-Brazilian folkloric dance. More specifically, the religious movements of the Orixa dances, the athleticism of Capoiera, and the folkloric working dances from slavery. With this unique blend of influences Paco Gomes practices storytelling primarily through the myths and legends of the Candomble religion of Brazil. The infusion of contemporary and traditional dance allows for dynamic and humanized storytelling. Paco Gomes and Dancers looks to create new dances that explore human relationships and experiences internationally and cross-culturally.
